So I got a 3% cost-of-living raise…. yay, right?! Except my electricity bill decided to jump at the same time.

Same house, same energy habits, same everything…yet my bill is way higher. It’s frustrating because there’s basically no alternative, and it makes me feel like no matter how careful I am with money, it’s never enough.

How do you all stay frugal when bills just keep climbing? Even small tips for cutting energy use would be a lifesaver.

This sub makes no sense if the majority of posts are “what’s a frugal idea y’all?”

Oh man, I’ve been there. It’s the worst when you feel like you’re doing everything right and bills still jump out of nowhere. One thing that helped me was actually tracking which devices use the most power, I was shocked how much “always-on” stuff like my router and a few chargers were adding up.

Also, little changes feel dumb but actually help:

setting the thermostat a degree lower, washing clothes in cold water, and just being intentional about lights. It won’t stop rates from going up, but at least it’s something you can control.

Honestly, sometimes it’s just about mental survival too reminding yourself that tiny wins count.
