Starting at a consulting firm in Chicago (ORD) soon. Firm pays for business class. I have a corporate fast track offer so status is basically sorted.

With the new MileagePlus changes, non-cardholders earn ~3 miles less vs cardholders. Given business class fares out of a United hub, that gap compounds fast.

The problem is I’m at 7/24 and won’t drop to 4/24 until December. I’m also tempted by another Amex card in the meantime, but that would push my Chase eligibility back another 9 months to September 2027.

Has anyone had luck getting the United card approved above 5/24 via the United app pre-qualification or Chase in-branch? At this point I’m half tempted to just go with American lol…

7/24 Chicago-based frequent traveler— is it worth waiting until 5/24 for the United card or are there workarounds?

I was at 6/24 and got a personalized offer for Explorer. Still ultimately rejected for 5/24 even with me calling into recon. YMMV

5/24 is strict for Chase co-brand cards. You’ll just have to wait.

Biz cards typically do not add to x/24 counts, so if the amex you’re looking at is a biz card, you can get that without issues.
