This is a small silver lining. But I’d imagine the negative climate impacts of the war far outweigh the benefit, at least in the short term.
Yeah he’s pushing the transition but hes doing it by blowing up fossil fuels which just releases all that C02 even more rapidly
Every violent, ignorant, right-wing, gunslinging, white nationalist I’ve met seems to think the whole Western world is crawling with “eco-terrorists,” yet they never seem able to actually find one.
As a european, I can tell you here solar is exploding. So are evs.
Yes you have to wait to charge, yes the infrastructure isn’t ready, yes to all those things.
But damn, not having to constantly be at the mercy of russia, the us or middle east keeping it in their pants is the goal now for every idiot.
Yes, I know trucks and everything still runs on diesel, but imagine how easy it would be if domestic average joe drops 30-40% fuel demand, that will leave far more for trucks to ship things at reasonable fuel prices.
The reality is, the exporter states need to export far more than we need to import.
If we’d just get our heads out of our collective union asses and start building nuclear with some reasonable ‘force majore’ temporary legislation.
