I've always loved making my own food like many of you!
I purchased a kitchen aid mixer on sale as a life investment to my aging hands for making bread and other various things. I was gifted the meat grinding attachment several years ago (that comes with a sausage stuffer) and started with making cheap, ground beef from meats that was were sale. Eventually it evolved into making homemade sausages.
By my calculations, this comes out to be about $1.15/lb. including the casings and spices.
Picked up at the end of last year at $0.97/lb.
First thing is first, shop the sales! It's common to find pork butts here cheap around certain times of the year. I usually buy at least 2 for this very reason.
Bone removed and sliced for the grinder.
Here's the small mountain of spices to be mixed in. This is where I wish I had a meat mixer because it doesn't help the hands.
After the sausages were made, they sit in the fridge over night to "come together"
Here's the first link on the smoker after a few hours.
Right out of the smoker, second links went on then.
Also made some pretzels with the same machine.
Here's the final meal, it was delicious!
Finally, here's what's left after sharing with 3 neighbors. This will be frozen and last me ~6 months if not more. Hope y'all enjoyed!!

That all looks fantastic. Fresh (uncured) sausage is delicious and healthier than the deli meats, if I had the tools I’d love to try this out!
Holy crap this is badass.
