Judge ruled in favour of Reddit and finalized the order to remand back to state court yesterday.
“The court finds that Anthropic’s alleged violations go beyond merely copying Reddit’s content without permission. Anthropic allegedly misappropriated Reddit’s content and data for its own use, in violation of contractual rights under Reddit’s User Agreement, which are distinct from the rights granted by copyright law,” U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson wrote in her ruling [remanding](https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/reddit-v-anthropic-remand-order.pdf) the case.”
This is positive for Reddit because state court is likely to be more favourable to their case. It increases the chance of them reaching a settlement favourable to Reddit because the risks with taking it to trial would be quite high for Anthropic.
