My 5th card (Wells Fargo Autograph) opened April 9, 2024, putting me at exactly 5/24. I want to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve and grab the 125K bonus before the WHOOP credit offer expires May 12.

I've seen conflicting info on when exactly the card drops off:

    • Some sources say the exact 24-month anniversary (April 9)
    • TPG and others say wait until the first day of the 25th month (May 1)
    • Old DoC post mentioned Experian backdates to the 1st of the month, but apparently they show exact dates now

My situation: Chase typically pulls Experian in my area (Alabama). I pulled my Experian report and the WF Autograph shows April 9, 2024 as the open date — no backdating visible.

If I apply April 9 and Chase counts the card as still within 24 months, I waste a hard pull and potentially miss the WHOOP offer window trying to figure out what went wrong.

Has anyone applied on the exact date a card hit its 24-month mark and gotten approved? Or did you get denied and have to wait until the 1st of the following month?

For context I'm at a clean 4/24 after April 9, 739 FICO, existing Chase relationship with 4 cards, targeting the CSR specifically.

Timing CSR application around 5/24 drop – apply on exact date or wait for first of following month?

    1. Depends. If auto approve, then the 1st of the month. If denied and have to go through recon, then either the actual date of the card or the 1st of the 25th month.

Remember that you have 30 days to call recon to try to overturn the denial.
