Just completed a semi-deep-dive into my 2025 card expenditures and need your suggestions as I am weighing different options while trying to implement best practices from you aficionados:
Goal: just trying to maximize points accruals for domestic travel aka family vacations. The four of us do use hotels but, also utilize Airbnb if it makes better sense for the trip or our needs.
I tend to steer towards Delta for flights considering their HQ/hub is here in the ATL. Hotel-wise, no real preference. I do like the Marriot chain/brands but, not beholden to them.
Using the form below, it seems logical to stay within the Chase or Citi family but, I am definitely open to other card issuers.
Based on my tenure with these companies, would it be wise to cancel and move to another family of cards? I'm thinking not considering I don't have much time with them and don't want to create chaos with my credit score but, you tell me.
Not a big spender and when looking at my year over year, I spend between $25k to $30k per year across these cards. I realize my inputs on monthly spending may not add up to that but, I seem to have "life" happen and have anywhere from $5k to $10k of unexpected expenses occur throughout the year.
Instead of being, what I perceive as all over the place by paying for expenses with cards, being more intentional with using "X" card for gas and "Y" card for groceries and "Z" card for Costco/Sams purchases, "A" card for online/in-store shopping, etc. Seeking best practices for using the cards I currently have in my wallet? Mark them with a damn sharpie? Is there an app y'all use?
