I plan to buy around 4-5 BTC over the next few months. Maybe do it in 3 chunks. Its a long-term HODL. Main goal is low fees and future access to products like borrowing against my BTC or even using it as collateral for a mortgage 2-3 years down the . Maybe want a little bit of margin.

Leaning towards Kraken but want any and all recommendations! Also, I have a Ledger USB already

Buying $300k in BTC next few months. Which broker?

    1. If you are in the USA I recommend River or Strike. I also recommend getting a Foundation Passport, Trezor, Jade or a Coldcard.

Any exchange has sufficient liquidity for this, 3-5 BTC isn’t actually that much especially if you’re splitting up orders.

If you’re moving it to your ledger anyway just do it at any legit exchange and optimize for fees

if you buy from river or strike as a reoccurring purchase there are no fees. im not sure about the size and how it works, but I assume you could be like, buy $50,000 every week as reoccurring, then not pay any fees. im not sure though, but somethign worth looking into.

    4. As others have noted, you are best off with an OTC desk. Check out DAMEX (damex.io) – I know them, and have used them. Good execution and low cost for larger orders.

      Look up OTC, mate.

Also, throw the ledger into the bin. With the capability of sending the keys over the internet, it clearly is just a fancy hot wallet. No matter if you subscribe to the backup service or not. A proper cold wallet should never be able to do that.
You’re looking for a device that is FULLY open source, Bitcoin ONLY and air-gapped. You’re building your own bank here, mate. **Don’t duck it up!**

I’d use Strike and dca over a period of time (no fees after 7 days).

I also wouldnt touch Ledger, personally.
