This has happened to multiple people at my company. The Conduent breach has been mentioned, but I want some more evidence that it isn’t only our company.
Anyone get their return rejected because a return under their SSN has already been submitted?

It happens to countless people every year. It’s an extremely common form of identity theft. Most Americans SSNs have been leaked several times by several different companies (including the exact companies that track every single piece of credit history you have and assign you a score) at this point. Pinning it on any one specific leak is impossible.
Alert the IRS, do what they say, and get an IRS pin number to prevent random people from filing your taxes fraudulently
Id freeze your credit reports while you’re at it, just to be safe.
This happens every year to many people because social security numbers and associated data have been leaked all over the world and aren’t hard to come by. Get a PIN from the IRS and you can use that next year to (hopefully) avoid this problem.
Happened to me in 2015 with the OPM hack. It took 18 months for me to get my tax return that was due.
Sorry you are going through this OP. Make sure to do a credit freeze if you haven’t already.
Concentration within a company seems odd. There might be an internal compromise.
