I've been seeing a huge shift lately. Some people swear by optimizing every single mile for travel, while others have moved strictly to flat cashback cards for the simplicity.

Given how much reward structures have changed this year, are you still 'team travel' or have you switched to 'team cash'?

Lately I’ve switched to flat cashback way simpler than chasing points for tiny travel perks.

    2. i like cash back. use the cash for my brokerage. it was already cash i would have spent anyway.

that said i do have membership rewards etc.

      so both.

      Cash back.

I use Apple Pay for almost everything. So 2% CB on the Goldman Sachs (soon to be JP Morgan) Apple Card.

I just don’t spend enough money over a span of a year to play the game.

    4. I use cash back on paying for everything. But also I have the credit card for the hotel chain I always use since its benefits are good and I get them even when I don’t use the card.

I prefer cash back and think of it as kind of a year-end bonus because I just save it all and then pay myself out at the end of the year

One card I have I have to use rewards , though it’s still a good deal

    6. Use the cash back to pay the card balance. That way you aren’t cannibalizing points you would get from other purchases

    7. Award travel is a hobby for some. It’s not “easy” like bloggers make it seem. It takes a good combination of work and luck. If you find that fun and want to travel on the luxury side, then award travel is still plausible. But if you want to make your money work the hardest, imo, get a cash back card and when you travel, pay cash for hotels and economy flights.
