Hi,

I got the Chase Sapphire Preferred a few years ago when I had the 125k sign up bonus, and used it a few times over the years.

Booking a flight today, I saw that the travel portal cost a couple hundred more for the same flight compared to booking with american airlines directly. Now I am questioning how much it's worth keeping the card.

When we travel, we may not always rent a car and get benefits like CDW (for example, we might travel to see family who lend us their car, or in our last trip which was in Chicago, we found that ubering and public transport cost less than renting a car). On top of that, we almost never eat out so the dining points aren't helpful either.

Plus, the 2x points on travel expenses is also not much helpful since I get 2x cashback on all purchases on my Wells Fargo card anyway.

This means that overall it seems like there's not much reason for me to keep this card. We travel maybe 3 times a year at best, especially since having a toddler with us is no cakewalk either.

Are there any other benefits I might be missing? Thanks

    Keeping the Chase Sapphire Preferred?

    1. I use the door dash benefit which makes up for the annual fee.  It also my card to use for food international due to no foreign transaction fees.  If you do use the point for travel always transfer to an airline or hotel reward program and book it thru using their points.  Never use your Ulimate points to book.

    2. That cards for
      1. Transferring UR points to a travel partner
      2. Basic travel features (secondary car coverage, trip delay, waived forex)

If you’ve been booking things through the Chase travel portal you’ve been severely undercutting your points … it’s a bad deal 90% of the time. Partner transfer on the other hand is a great deal.
