I attended the Drift Protocol call today expecting clarity, especially after everything that happened.
Instead, I walked away more concerned.
There were around 5–6 speakers. The majority of the conversation wasn’t about concrete next steps, recovery plans, or technical breakdowns. It was mostly centered around “human trust,” community, and general statements.
At one point, one of the key people (who seemed to be leading or closely involved with Drift) openly said they don’t really know what the next steps are yet.
That stood out to me.
This wasn’t a minor issue, we’re talking about a massive exploit. Naturally, you’d expect:
A structured response plan
-Clear mitigation steps.
-Timeline expectations.
-Even partial technical direction.
But none of that was clearly communicated.
The overall tone felt:
-Shocked.
-Reactive.
-Unprepared.
Not necessarily dishonest, but definitely not in control.
To be fair, this is a huge situation and no team is fully prepared for something like this. But as a user/investor, what matters now is execution, not just messaging.
Right now, it feels like:
-They are still processing what happened.
-There is no defined recovery roadmap yet.
-Communication is leaning more emotional than operational.
I’m not saying this is the end of Drift, but if you were expecting confidence and direction from this call, you probably didn’t get it.
Curious if others attended, what was your takeaway?
