    1. >The price was $32.33 higher than the [Brent crude futures](https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/@LCO.1/) contract for June delivery, which [closed at $109.03 on Thursday.](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/04/02/oil-prices-today-wti-brent-trump-speech-iran-war-.html)

      >The futures price is “almost giving a false sense of security that things are not that stressed,” said Amrita Sen, founder of Energy Aspects, in [an interview](https://www.cnbc.com/video/2026/04/02/energy-aspects-amrita-sen-oil-prices-are-likely-to-have-a-higher-floor.html) with CNBC’s [“The Exchange.”](https://www.cnbc.com/the-exchange/)

      >“You are seeing it but the financial market is almost masking the true tightness that everywhere else is showing up,” Sen said. The price for a barrel of diesel in Europe is almost $200 per barrel right now, she said.

Dumb question but does that value account for inflation or is it just nominal

    3. This economy crash is gunna be epic . Best part is, in just a few months ill be debt free while it happens

It’s funny, I bought long dated USO puts (mid 2027) a few days ago and they barely dipped today, even though USO increased 11%. The difference in delta was made up in increased IV.

The market knows that, one way or another, oil is going to be CHEAP next year. Global recession will do that.

    5. Full disclosure: I am long oil

Need to keep in mind Dated Brent is for loading a ship in late April. Current futures price is for loading a ship in June.

Price difference is due to optimism this mess gets better in between those two points in time.

    6. Brang it on. I just put 100 pounds of vacuum packed meat in the freezer and bought $1000 worth of my favorite foods to put away.

The difference between the paper price and the price for actual cargo is that every member of the G7 is strapped with a money printer and you’ve got a One-Hundred and Fourty Cent Store water pistol. Highly doubtful they are going to let newcomers get rich off of this.

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz and my wife closed the joint bank account. Rough week.

Something is missing from this equation though. Mango likes a weak dollar. High oil means high petro dollar. On the backend the play is probably gold, and cough, bitcoin related stocks.

Don’t worry guys, I am gonna buy USO tmrw so it will for sure go down. You can thank me later for saving the world economy

Good time to short markets. People gonna go broke and major economic pullback. Inflation. Rising rates at time of job losses.

      Things gonna get shitty

    12. Is there not some way to arbitrage this extreme difference between futures and spot? I totally agree with the guy the article quoted that the market isn’t accurately pricing the oil scarcity thats coming in yhe next few months. So what’s the trade?
