I am the proud owner of a new Amex business platinum card and want to get the most out of the rewards. I am new to the points systems usually relying on cashback cards before now. These points systems are complicated to me. Is there a good rule of thumb to get the most out of MR points if I normally fly Delta? I’ve done some research and know there are ways to maximize these. I’m really just looking for getting good value but not necessarily optimize if it’s a ton more work. Thanks!

Delta generally doesn’t have the best point redemptions (hence their nickname “SkyPesos”). Read the wiki of r/awardtravel thoroughly
Why would you get the Biz Plat?
The Delta Reserve probably fits your spending better. You get the takeoff 15 benefit increasing the value of your points, and you get points toward status as well as a companion pass. And you can still access Sky Clubs and Centurion lounges
