I realized this morning that my husband and I shoulnd probably make a list of our belongings in case something happens, and we need to file a claim. I did some searching online to see about how to do that and saw that you're supposed to take pictures/videos and keep copies of receipts. But if an item is a gift, you usually don't have a receipt, right? So how important actually is it to have a receipt?
I know things will vary from company to company and from policy to policy and from case to case. I guess I'm just asking if this is an "Obviously this is one of the most important things you need" type of thing, or if it's just "Meh, depends." And if receipts are super important, how are you supposed to do that with gifts?
Sorry if this question has already been asked and answered here. I tried looking for it in the sub, but all the gift-related questions I found were about how to insure a gifted car
Providing proof of ownership for gifts?
