Got auto-rejected for Citi Custon Cash; Recon line came through after some persistence

Applied for 2 cards on the same day without doing any research on Citi beforehand and got auto-rejected.

The moment my rejection letter arrived in the mail I called the recon line thanks to this sub ( tried calling before it arrived ) . I doom-looped through the automated system for a while before finally getting a human. I told them I was calling for reconsideration, they tried to get me off the phone a couple times, but I held firm and made it clear I had the actual rejection letter with the application ID in hand.

From what I could tell, they won't really engage with you without it. After 5–10 minutes on hold i got approved!

Pro Tip : enter fake application ID after social when using automated system otherwise the bot will just tell you the rejection reason all day
