Found out kinda by accident that the butcher counter at my local Hispanic grocery store will just cut and portion meat however you want and its like 30 40% cheaper than the prepackaged stuff at the regular supermarket. I only went in there to grab tortillas.

Ended up talking to the guy for 20 minutes because I had no idea what I was asking for and he was patient enough to just explain everything. Walked out with enough chicken thighs and pork shoulder to last two weeks and spent less than I usually do on four days of groceries.

I have a decent chunk of money saved up but I've been trying to be smarter about the day to day stuff and this was just one of those moments where I realized I've been doing something unnecessarily expensive for years just out of habit

I don't even think it's a secret I just never thought to go in there. Probably walked past it 200 times

Been buying the wrong size of everything apparently

Hispanic grocers are great! Spend some of what you save on whole chilis, the flavour is incomparable
