April 2026; 04/2026
Using US Bank Cash+ (plus) with Utilities chosen as quarterly reward to pay FEDERAL taxes owed via ACI using PayPal.
Edit: As of April 2026, if you pay federal taxes owed using USB Cash+ credit card with Home Utilities set as one of your quarterly 5% cash rewards categories, through ACI Payments using PayPal, it codes as a utility payment. Remember to remove ALL OTHER payment methods in PayPal to avoid it trying to charge another payment method on file. You can’t remove a PayPal Mastercard credit card unfortunately, so be aware PayPal might still charge that one despite you putting the USB cash+ as the primary card to charge.
2 transactions, one as PayPal*aci IRS svc and the other as US treasury.
Pending 5% cashback on the US treasury transaction that shows as Federal Taxes in the transaction category.
Pending 1% on the PayPal*aci IRS svc fee that shows as Taxes in the transaction category.
Paid on a Friday, transactions posted on following Tuesday, so 2 business days to post.

Very confused how you got irs to code as utility
US Bank does that weird thing where pending shows 5% but after processed it shows 1% and when statement closes they give you the “Bonus” 4%
Way to confuse folks US Bank!
