For example:
- If I create a model to analyze radiological images and produce a conclusion with as high an accuracy as a human can, zero jobs are created, but numerous jobs are eliminated. Some jobs are retained – operating and maintaining the scanning machines – but countless other high paying roles are gone.
- If I create a model that can generate whatever advertising image (with text and whatnot) that I can think of, I can't think of a job that is created, only jobs that are eliminated. I no longer need to hire designers to create ad materials. Similarly, if I create a model that can create short form videos of whatever content I want (say an advertisement for my new drug I've developed) what jobs are created? I don't need someone to write the ad, or produce the ad, I don't need camera men, I don't need actors, I don't need anyone to edit or do lighting. Countless jobs are eliminated, what jobs are created?
- If I create a model that drives 18 wheelers as well or better as humans (no need for sleep, doesn't make mistakes that cause accidents etc) then I eliminate millions of jobs for autonomous trucks that deliver goods across the US. What jobs are created from this?
- This can go on ad infinitum
If AI is as good as humans at many existing jobs, and can do their jobs for them, what jobs will be created by its implementation?
