hello everyone! I just wanted some thoughts about my plan to close my 3 Bank of America and 2 Capital One cards.

I am entering my mid 20s, so I have enjoyed churning cards and maxing card benefits. but I feel I have come to a point where I want to consolidate to make it all easier to manage. I have credit cards with Bank of America, Capital One, American Express, and just recently a Citi Bank card (in addition to an Amazon Store card) for a total of 12 credit cards open currently.

I personally see a lot of use in AmEx and Citi cards, which is what I plan to move towards. so I just want to see, say in the future if I wanted to reopen cards with either of B of A or C1 how hard it would be, or if it would even be worth doing. my idea is to lean on Citi cards for daily spending and AmEx cards for benefits, and with C1 lacking in card variety, and B of A mainly cash back, they seem limiting for my near term purposes.

consolidating ecosystems: closing my Bank of America and eventually Capital One cards

    1. Mid-20s?! I didn’t even really start getting into credit cards until my mid-to-late 30s. Though, I was horrible with money (actually technically poor) in much of my 20s, fearful of credit for much of my late-20s through mid-30s when I started to actually make and save decent money, and didn’t have the hivemind of today’s modern internet back in the day to help me see the way.
