- I can pay my tuition with a credit card, and I wanted to see if I can get a better deal somehow than the 3% cashback from Robinhood gold. I used to have a discover student card, but have no other experience with credit cards. Any help or advice is very appreciated. Thank you!
- Current cards:
- robinhood gold, 10,000 limit, opened 02/24
- FICO Score: 780
- Oldest account age: e.g. 2 years 2 months
- Chase 5/24 status: no applications in last 2 years
- Income: $30,000, I have some savings too so I won’t have an issue paying the card off each month
- Average monthly spend and categories:
- dining $200
- groceries: $450
- gas: $150
- travel: $100
- tuition: 2.2k per month, next 15 months
- Open to Business Cards: not sure
- What's the purpose of your next card? cashback
- Do you have any cards you've been looking at? no.
- Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card. either way

With that tuition spend you could easily hit welcome bonuses on multiple cards throughout the year 💀 Chase Sapphire Preferred has 60k points for 4k spend in 3 months which is way better value than 3% cashback, plus you can downgrade after first year to avoid annual fee. Since you’re 0/24 you have tons of options – maybe grab CSP first then look at other Chase cards or even Amex Gold depending how you want to space out applications 🔥
If you were to consider points, you could go for some of the amex business cards. The business gold can fetch up to 200k MR which I value at ~$4,000 when used on transfer partners.
If you want cash back, check out the chase ink business cards for max cash back SUBs.
Morning my wife and I are planning on taking our family on a crazy vacation this summer and we both got the Chase Sapphire card. She used hers to purchase the airline tickets and I’m using mine to pay for the resort all in all we will get $1500 back.
