It’s getting hard for the US to escalate on destroying an entire civilisation but it feels like this is just more tactics and we’ll be looking at a dip and recovery within the week. Trump can’t afford the high gas prices and just desperate for an off ramp, Iran knows time is on its side due to oil prices, this is just two sides who can’t lose face playing hardball but eventually US will cave and settle for some of Iran’s demands – whatever lets them still claim a victory. I’m just not sure whether to hold through the drama or sell some stocks at a loss tomorrow and buy back a few days later nearer to a bottom, as this doesn’t feel like Monday will see a rally. Thoughts?

I think Trump wants out but can’t find a way of making it happen without looking weak. The real difficulty for Trump is Israel who can’t have a wounded and angry Iran on their doorstep. He can’t break with Israel as Netanyahu is Kushner’s honorary uncle and he can’t put boots on the ground in Iran because of the whole no forever wars thing he promised maga. So we’ll go back to threats and bluster until something changes on either side.
Iran took the traffic of the straight from around 135 ships a day to single digits. Trump is gonna take if from single digits to zero thinking it’s a win cuz he knows if he wipes Iran off the face of the planet, he’s done. He fucked up and there’s no coming back from it but, being an extreme narcissist, he’s going to try anything to save face.
