I've seen lots of recommendations to get this card to access funds while traveling and other travel benefits.
I have no relationship with Schwab and I'm not sure on the process after looking through the website as it appears to require a brokerage account and a checking account first?

The brokerage account comes with the checking account. I use the brokerage now but I didn’t for years.
The debit card you are looking for is the one that belongs to the Charles Schwab Bank Investor Checking account. Yes, opening a Schwab Checking also opens a Schwab individual brokerage account along the way. You need to keep that brokerage account open to keep your checking account open, they are linked accounts. Schwab does not have fees or minimums on any of their accounts though, so you can just pretend the brokerage account isn’t there if you don’t want to use it, can even hide it entirely from the interface.
Fidelity has a debit card tied to their cash management account with the same benefit.
