phys.org: AI systems can analyze data such as browsing history, location and purchase history to predict willingness to pay. That means the same product could be offered at different prices to different people at the same time.
This is not entirely new, but AI makes it far more precise and scalable, pushing markets closer to a world where everyone is quoted their own individual price.
The real issue is fairness
The study, co-authored with Dr. Christian Bergqvist of the University of Copenhagen, finds that even if overall prices do not rise, consumers react strongly when they discover they are paying more than others without a clear reason. That sense of unfairness can reduce trust and affect behavior.
My Opinion: Richer people can afford to pay more. And those living in poverty are only able to pay less. But I don't think that different people should pay different prices for the same products or services. For the poor, basic products should be made available at lower prices. For the rich, luxury products should be made available at higher prices. Products should be designed around the customer, to deliver maximum value to them.

It makes much more sense to solve the fairness problem through progressive taxation, wealth taxes, etc. having different prices for everyone determined by AI creates a system that isn’t transparent, and where the AI could essentially favor certain people.
