Hello,
I’m about to turn 18 and I’m looking for the best credit card for me. I currently bank with Wells Fargo and Chase. Since I travel frequently, I need a card with zero foreign transaction fees. I was considering the Wells Fargo autograph card, or the cfu but it has a ftf , so I wanted to get a second opinion.
Thanks,
Turning 18 soon and I want to get a credit card

get the autograph if you already bank with wells fargo, makes everything easier when it’s all in one place. chase freedom unlimited is solid but that foreign transaction fee will eat you alive if you’re actually traveling frequently like you say
just make sure you pay it off every month and don’t go crazy with the spending limit once you get approved
Beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to getting your very first credit product of any kind. You have no history and will be denied for most cards, especially so for any travel cards. The banking relationships do help, though.
The Autograph is a good all around, catch all card…if you can be approved for it. More than likely, your necessary first step is a no-frills starter card or secured card. Banking relationships may get you something like a Chase Freedom Rise or similar, but the best beginner-friendly lenders are generally Discover or Capital One (almost certainly secured, if you go that route).
