Hello all! I need some help in trying to decode what all of this information means and what it says for my qualifying payment counts toward IDR forgiveness. Or are they even doing that any longer?!

I have $65k in all undergrad loans that originated in 2004.

I also am still at my PSLF approved employer that I’ve been at the past 5 years. But the past 2 years of counts have not been counting due to the pause.

    Any insight is so appreciated!

    1. You have 235 qualifying payments towards IDR forgiveness. You would need to reach 300 payments for IBR forgiveness. The upcoming new RAP plan will require 360 payments.

You have 60 qualifying payments towards PSLF out of the 120 needed. That is your quickest and cheapest path to forgiveness. If you’re going to be continuing with qualifying employment, that forgiveness would be federally tax-free. The IBR forgiveness would not be.

You can currently use ICR or IBR to make qualifying payments. The RAP plan will begin July 2026.

    2. And wasn’t with SAVE it a 20 year (240) forgiveness as far as IDR was concerned, or did I completely imagine that?
