I thought I was spending maybe $50/month on subscriptions… I was way off

I was trying to get a better overview of my spending habits and went through all my subscriptions.

Monthly didn’t seem that bad, but when I added it up yearly it was kind of a “wait, what?” moment.

It made me realize how easy it is to ignore small monthly costs that quietly add up over time.

Curious, do you guys actually track subscriptions somewhere, or just cancel things as you notice them?

I didn’t use to, but then when I randomly decided to do so and realized I was spending hundreds of dollars per month on something I thought at most I was wasting $50 on, I got more serious about it. Now not so much as I’ve got a lot of it pared down, but I do regularly check my banking accounts for recurring transactions that I may have forgotten about that are no longer needed.

Yeah, I track everything I spend. I have a budget line for streaming and I cycle through my services every few months.

You don’t need an app. Just review your credit cards. I just don’t sign up for free trials either.

SquareSpace got me, though, because I thought that I was paying for domains, but I was actually paying for Google workspaces for expired domains… which I couldn’t access because the domain was expired

    4. Why do I have to read this post every single day? Yes I track what I spend my money on?

Do you never look at your CC app or your banking app? Why is it a mystery? YOU are the one authorizing this stuff.
