I know absolutely nothing about flowers for prom other than you're supposed to get some for your date. I checked the local florist and they have prom arrangements for $80. Does anyone have any alternatives on getting something decent at a more reasonable price? Do grocery stores with flower sections usually have something that would work?

Does anyone have suggestions for prom flowers?

When I was growing up we basically all got them at the grocery store florist. They’d ask the color of the dress and use that for the ribbon, for a wrist corsage, or the floral tape, for a boutonniere for the boys.

We generally didn’t do a bouquet, because what would you do with it? Though I think these days some girls are carrying like a nosegay instead of getting a corsage. That should not run $80 as they’re quite small.

Yes grocery stores often do boutonnières and corsages! Especially around prom season. Try to find out what color her dress is and order a corsage that will complement it. Most girls want a wrist corsage.

    3. My prom was in 2003, but I’m pretty sure I bought a corsage in the flower department at Safeway.

Costco has a mail floral department now- check there if you have a membership. Or the local grocery.

A lot of girls prefer a small bouquet. You can run to something like Trader Joe’s and buy two small bouquets and put them together with a ribbon hiding the wire. Make sure it matches her dress. Look up on YouTube putting together a bouquet.

I make corsages all the time. Look on YouTube, also, I started using the glue rather than wiring them together. So much easier. I think the videos I use are beaux jardin on YouTube.

I bought all the stuff once, been doing weddings and proms ever since. Got my moneys worth many times over. I originally did my own flowers cause I wasn’t willing to pay the quote of 2500 twenty five years ago. lol

Yes. Floral departments at grocery stores make these. When I did this for my son it was years ago. I went during a week day and was able to actually talk to someone who worked in that department and they helped me fill out the order form. They will likely need more notice than a floral shop.
