My mother died in February. My father has dementia. My wife just filed for divorce. I’ve been in inpatient rehab for alcohol the past month. I have 24 hours to file a tax extension for my father. I can’t verify records online because I can’t find 2024 returns in the boxes of paperwork in my father’s house so no AGI or PIN. I found 1983-1987 returns and 2000-2002. Help?

Does your father have actual income? Are you even sure he’s filed taxes recently? Did your mother have income last year?

    2. Print out a form, fil it out, and mail it in using the good old US mail. It has to be postmarked by tomorrow.

If he owes, the payment is due tomorrow anyway. You only get an extension to fie, not to pay.

    3. We guessed $27k liability and we have my father’s military 1099 that shows $17k withholding. I tried to file online and it kept telling me I wasn’t verified based on a past return
