So I'm new to dealing with car insurance and I didn't realize claims were so tricky and how it's best not to file one.
I filed a claim online for a 8in long crack around the front mirror that was likely caused by a rock while driving + temperature shock. The claim portal told me that out of pocket was lower than the deductible and gave me an option to schedule an appointment with Safelite.
I left the page like that for a while, came back and couldn't get back to the schedule page after it refreshed but I saw a claim number was created even though they told me to go out of pocket.
I was wondering if there is anyway to retract it or explain to the insurance company. Should I upload pictures of what kind of damage it was so they know nothing is sus?
Or is this not a big deal? I thought it wasn't until I came across horror stories on Reddit about how even a minor no-fault claim like this followed them for years/hiked their premiums.
Noob question about retracting claim for windshield damage.
