18M in California — girl hit and ran my car at school, gave false insurance info to police, and now her family is dodging their own insurance company. What are my options?

    1. Pushing the police to do anything won’t help you in any way, but if you want to try and hurt the driver/family, then sure, see if a call to the police will do something to get her charged/cited.

      Your easiest path is to use your UI coverage, but you probably have both a deductible and low limits ($3.5K in CA I think), which may or may not be enough to cover you damages. The harder path is a small claims court case. The upside is you can sue to recover the full extent of your damages (assuming they are within CA’s small claims court damage limits). The downside is you have to actually sue and win.
