I've been living off campus for one year now and I pay rent every single month without missing a single payment. In two full years of being a reliable tenant I have earned zero miles or points on any of it because my landlord will only accepts bank transfers

I got a travel rewards card earlier this semester and started paying attention to how miles accumulate. I did some math out of curiosity on what two years of rent payments would have earned if they had gone through the card instead of straight out of my bank account

I'm talking about enough miles to cover a flight maybe more from money that was leaving my account every month

The rent was always getting paid and I was just never getting anything back for it but never even thought to question whether that was something I could change

Feeling pretty dumb about this right now and wanted to ask if anyone has found a way to make rent count toward travel rewards because if there is a solution out there I need to know about it IMMEDIATELY! Sorry for venting and have a great rest of your day

My landlord only accepts bank transfers. Any workarounds to still earn miles on rent?

The fact that you never missed a payment and got nothing for it is frustrating. Most consistent bill you pay and it earns zero

Been there man, rent on a card would be a game changer for hitting those signup bonuses 🔥 You could try something like Plastiq or Bilt but they usually charge fees that might eat into your rewards value – do the math first to see if it’s worth it. Some people also ask their landlord if they’d take Zelle from a credit card but most banks don’t allow that anymore 💀

At least you’re thinking about this stuff now. People your age aren’t even paying attention to rewards at all

Landlords usually won’t accept your card because they’d be the ones covering the fee. There are services like Plastiq that let you pay with your credit card and then they handle sending a wire, ACH, or whatever payment method your landlord accepts on your behalf

I’ve used it myself in two situations one was the exact same situation as yours and the other was to max up a new credit card that I signed up for
