I see according to many sources, that average grocery expense for a single adult person is $240-$300. Like how?! If I'm bein bare bones, I can get by with spending only $90-$100 a month or $20-$25 a week. That means a couple packs of cup ramen, Bread/tortillas, Peanut butter, jelly, milk, eggs, bananas, butter/ oil, some boxes of Mac n cheese, canned tomato puree and maybe some packs of chips, cookies or other snacks if I got some to spare and that's bare bones.

Now some weeks I'll want to be a little more healthier and add some basic veggies and protein, it will be around $70-$80 more. a 10 lb bag of chicken and 5 lb bag of cheese can last me a month and probably I would buy onions, potatoes, peppers, lemons, cilantro and occasionally avocados and zucchini.

I cook decent meals and can have a pretty fulfilling meal everyday spending $180 tops for the whole month being generous and shopping at the right places such as at Aldi, cheaper groceries on everything. just got to bring your own bag and use debit or cash. I have dry ingredients such as spices, soup powders, sugar, grains, rice, flour coffee powder, etc that I purchased in bulk from months ago and it should get me by for another couple before restocking.

I also have some promotional stuff Id get from toogoodtogo when they give you a few bags of stuff for a discounted rate.

am I doing something right or wrong? how much do you guys on average spend on essential groceries a month?

What's your average monthly grocery bill?

    1. That figure is assuming that you’re not eating ramen and peanut butter often and are spending money on things like meat and vegetables. An average would also take into account high cost of living areas.

Probably about $500-600 a month. I also eat out more than I should so that number would likely be 700-800 a month if I didn’t. Family of 4, that includes toiletries and pet food for 2 dogs as well.

Around $400 but we only shop at Aldi and barely eat meat. I’m a vegetarian and my spouse buys maybe 2 packs of beef and two packs of chicken a month. He mostly eats whatever I make. We eat out once a week or less.
