Suspect I know the answer I'm going to get. My daughter's car was hit while parked for the second time in about a year. First time filing a claim was a no brainer as the rear bumper was hanging off. Luckily the responsible party came forward and my insurance carrier was reimbursed. This time there's a crease and scratches on the rear d/s door and qtr panel. No one is coming forward this time. Should I file a claim or tell my daughter to live with the vehicle scarring. Doesn't look terrible, but would no doubt be an expensive repair.

    1. Why not just make a claim? If it’s an expensive repair, that’s the time to use insurance. Up to you though.

What state are you in? Do you have uninsured motorist property damage coverage? Collision/comprehensive coverage? What is your deductible for the the different coverages? Have you stopped by a body shop to at least get an estimate to know the ball park pricing on the repair?

Get a repair estimate before you contact your insurer. Compare it to your deductible. Then decide.

      How old is the car?
