https://www.doctorofcredit.com/american-express-surveys-changes-to-blue-cash-preferred-card/
the bad parts:
-
Grocery cap STILL at $6k in 2026 (options 2 and 3), at higher AF too, is just LOL and unserious outside of single cardholders who shop groceries only for themselves
-
monthly Resy credit (option 1) is a logistical pain point even if you have a good Resy selection in your area. The Gold is reasonable at once-every-6-months. The Plat at once-a-quarter is still somewhat doable. But once a month? nah, screw that
-
more walmart+ credit (option 2)…. yay…..
that being said, the higher grocery cap (option 1) and higher grocery earn rate (option 2) do mathematically more than make up for the higher AF, but losing Disney+ as an AF offset hurts. Replacing with monthly Resy (option 1) just isn't going to work for most people. Replacing it with AI credits (option 2) might actually work out better for some people. So option 2 is probably overall best among the 3, generally speaking. Still hating the 6k grocery cap tho
of course, for those in the BCP only for the upgrade/downgrade elevator, these changes are probably fine and none of this matters
EDIT: i guess hoping for a relaunch of the MR earning everyday card is just futile and not going to happen

Jesus. And I get frustrated at the bakery vs. restaurant vs. fast food coding differences.
As long as they keep the 6k grocery limit, this card will never be worth it beyond the waived annual first year unless you’re playing elevator shenanigans or have a ton of spend the streaming category
Almost all those changes suck.
There’s a bunch of other options in the imgur album I posted too fwiw, but yeah unfortunately they all increase the AF to at least $125 and if they take away the Disney+ benefit they’re just going to make a lot of people mad since it’s currently how most people justify the card. Most options didn’t have Disney+
If you look at the link below the picture there are more options, like 9 total. Several have higher grocery spend caps and several retain the Disney+ credit. It’s hard to say what the final version will be.
