Watching the White House briefing on the news atm and seeing all this good news about tax cuts. Tell me, how much wealthier do you all feel, be honest.
Nothing coming from the WH should be trusted, you are wasting your time.

Everything costs more than it used to.
Last year, I made more money than I ever have before. I also paid a higher overall tax rate. Even so, my “take home” after all other expenses was less than it had been for the last 10 or so years.
I am by no means wealthy. I am, theoretically, the demographic the “tax cuts” were supposed to help. I didn’t see it.
At the state level, the rates were basically the same. The difference came in my federal taxes.
More evidence that everything coming from this administration is pure crap.

Anyone who isn’t currently employed and worth ~$2mm in liquid assets would probably say they feel like they’re hanging on by their fingernails and any tax cuts that Von Shitzhizpantz says are coming our way are the equivalent of a fart in a wind storm; i.e., utterly inconsequential.

I use an app to track my usual purchases. Not bills (they’re tracked in another app) but like groceries and gas and daily living sort of things. Over the past year I’ve made the same amount of money as I have previously. But all my costs have gone up and I have less leftover money than ever before. I also just did my taxes and didn’t get as good of a return as I did the previous year even though my income didn’t change.

Wealth is not a feeling. If you are feeling wealthy you are suffering from the Wealth Effect. That is what they are trying to convince everyone to feel so they keep spending.

This is the part of capitalism where we work to survive and consume. Everything costs money and goes up via dynamic pricing whenever the corporation feels like we can afford it. If you are not in the Upper middleclass you are in debt.

I like being frugal and saving money at lower risk, so I pretty much always feel okay financially. If you’re invested in the stock market it’s probably impossible to lose in the long run. The Fed will likely print to reverse any major downturn, making those who aren’t invested pay the price.

No idea if true, but I listened to something saying the average family refund increase vs last year was $350.
Inflation last month was 3.3. Jobs over the past year are stagnant. The debt and deficit is going up.
The big beautiful bill mostly benefits those that are making the most and any benefit I personally see (which is not much) has been eaten by the above and paid for with government credit card spending.
At least we got war to look forward to!

The problem with the tax cuts even if they are real is that, the majority of the dollar value of tax cuts is going to corporations and the wealthy. So yes the little guy gets a little bit but the big guys get the most.
secondly, they are and have been slashing benefits (and other public services) for the little guy at the same time. And then you have inflation on top of all that. So who is winning here? its not the little guy, theyre still getting fucked worse than before while corporate profit margins are through the roof.

I got about $200 more back for the 2025 tax year, and it doesn’t even matter. The jump in gas prices alone eats that up, I’m paying an extra $40 a month just to get to work.
I’m not a rich duck here; I’m basically a pauper on the economic scale, so having that extra $200 felt good for about a minute.
And that’s before you even touch groceries, property taxes, $1200. price increase for diabetic arm sensors or the latest round of utility hikes. The math just doesn’t pencil out anymore.

Trump and his ilk are dirty fuckin’ liars. On principle, don’t trust a goddamn word they say. With trump specifically, if he says he is going to do something good, he’s lying. If he says he is going to do something bad, he’s telling the truth. I have spent more per month on everything this year from groceries to gas, all because of this administration

I’m in commercial real estate in Houston, Texas and the last 2 and 1/2 years have been fairly slow. Things picked up very briefly in January and February with optimism that the economy was going to boom under Trump, but then tariffs put everything into a tailspin and now the war in Iran has made things even worse. In addition to the mass deportations of immigrants, construction companies are having a harder time finding workers which means they have to pay people more and in turn create costlier products
I know that inflation was really high under Biden, but at least there was an uncontrollable excuse. With covid, Russia invading, and Trump’s OPEC deal. All of the recent economic uncertainty lies solely on the shoulders of trump and his decisions. Overall, I don’t feel like I’m winning and neither does my bank account
