    1. Bad for Cuba but not a big deal to cigar smokers except for clout chasers and poseurs who want a Cuban label (and they often get duped by fakes).

All the great Cuban tobacco seed has been grown outside of Cuba for many, many decades. The best blenders left Cuba long ago, and the children and grandchildren of those blenders now run cigar operations in other countries.

Cuba’s cigar industry is state-run and largely state-owned. They’ve been known to ship gigantic, shitty batches because they need the money too badly and can’t wait for fermentation.

The best cigars haven’t come from Cuba since probably before your dad was born.
