Hi. I am going to graduate school starting next month and was told by my program that the program will be grandfathered in regarding the graduate plus loan changes happening this summer.
I, however, was an idiot, and having not filed FAFSA in many years, forgot how long the process takes, and only applied for FAFSA at the end of March. It was processed quickly but I have yet to received my initial offer letter. I understand this takes at least a few weeks for most people.
Then I will have to apply for graduate plus loans. Does anyone know how long the process is from completing the application to dispersion of the aid? I am worried that I will not meet the July 1st cutoff. Am I understanding that the loans need to be dispersed prior to July 1st in order to be grandfathered in or do they just need to be applied for? I am reaching out to the financial aid office but is there anything I can do in the meantime?
Thank you
