I used to budget every single transaction in a spreadsheet. It worked a ton for visibility, but eventually I got to a point where I was more comfortable with just passively monitoring my spending. I switched to Mint, then switched to Copilot afterwards and now using Quicken Simplifi.

What I want is to view, review, and manage all transactions, view my current balance including pending transactions, manage recurring transactions, and view reports. Simplifi supports all of this where I can mark transactions as reviewed or not reviewed, add and keep track of upcoming bills and subscriptions, and view reports. The only thing is that the phone app isn't great so I usually have to log in on my computer.

I'm considering trying Monarch now since they now seem to have nice reports (that was the main reason I didn't stick with Monarch years ago when looking for an alternative for mint). Anyone have any other recommendations?

Low maintenance budgeting platform? What are my options?

    1. Monarch is probably the front runner.

I use a spreadsheet. But some fairly prolific regulars here use Monarch and it seems fine.

    2. For a bit of initial time but general low maintenance and if you use 1 account for purchases only i like Neontra and its free. Generally about 5 days from transaction to import. You have to build out your transaction rules but once you have it set I find it does well. If you want to pay for something Monarch is probably better overall I just refuse to pay money for managing my money.
