I think this boils down to the iranians realizing they can keep playing this game for forever since trump will keep lying indefinitely to the americans if that means gas prices lower down even if the real physical supply of it dwindles furthermore with the passing of every day, the israelis have broken the ceasefire already after all

I mean trump just stated on social media he wouldn’t remove the blockade until a final deal is made after Iran stated they would open the strait. So I get the feeling that Iran changed its mind after its overtures was not reciprocated.

I heard the same thing from an NPR guest expert about an hour ago. Insurance carriers are not letting their ships pass due to liabilities. The transit map confirms this. The only route open as we here know is the Iranian coastal route and they are still collecting fees. Essentially nothing has changed.. Incredible times we live in watching this geopolitical chess game. This last countermove Iran made today does imo make Trump/u.s. look silly having the u.s. navy sitting there with their soft “blockade”, now since trump publicly bought irans statement this morning.
