Google has been offering doc, slides, sheets FOR FREE for the last 10 years. I'd argue it has all the same if not better functionality. But Microsoft office is all about network effect not the functionality. When your vendor and your customer send you .xlsx and .pptx, and you don't have office license, you end up stuck in 'file conversion limbo' every time.
Anthropic could likely build a standalone document, excel applications like what they do with design application, yet they released AI Microsoft Office plugins because the majority of global business speaks in .docx, .xlsx and .pptx.
Edit: This is not a question. need more people to buy MSFT so Im out of this bag holding.

What is your question?
They will. ChatGPT has already done bits of it.
Microsoft has even realized it and is rebranding office to Copilot, which will eventually include Windows too.
But it’s going to cost about 1500 or 2000 per year per employee. Most companies won’t pay it when agents will be doing most work.
Ok… what’s the topic of discussion here? Are you asking about investing in Microsoft, Google, Anthropic, what?
Youre like 20 years too late.
Before google, openoffice was the way you dealt with ms files for free.
Now its still google.
And yes, the standard doc formats from MS will continue to dominate because install base, but the software is cheap for any business and able to be worked around by poors.
There is no issue
Move on
It’s not close. I have been a full time Linux user for 25 years and can’t stand MS; also have quite an interest in finance. Even Excel on Mac can’t compare to Excel on Windows. We had an entire finance department revolt and had to be switched back to Windows machines for their Excel integrations.
Google docs are dogshit man
Also Office is FREE using the web versions which I do at home and they work great for all the things I need.
