Used my debit card at a U.S. Bank ATM to deposit $1400 cash. The machine took the money but never credited my account and didn’t give a receipt. My bank (credit union) is telling me to contact U.S. Bank, and U.S. Bank is saying to contact my bank. Bank is currently closed. What’s the correct way to handle this and make sure I get my money back?

You better hope that machine comes up $1,400 extra when counted AND no one else puts in a claim
Never ever deposit cash thru an ATM, especially in these amounts. EVER. Too much risk.
You will be lucky to get cash back. You will spend hours trying to sort this out
Walk into a branch next time.
Contact after hours number, if available, and report it. Go to US Bank on Monday and report in person as well. Similar incident was reported by another redditor. When ATM money is counted and their discrepancy matches your report, you will get it. It may take a while though.
I didn’t know you could deposit cash in an ATM.
Im old, I would want to see it counted.
How did you deposit at US Bank if you don’t have an account with them?
Quit using ATMs. There are too many bad stories like this one. Find another way to deposit cash. There are too many places to get cash from a real person so there’s no need to withdraw cash either.
I can’t be the only person who is continually amazed that people are using an ATM to make cash deposits. So risky for so many reasons!
Why would you deposit $1400 cash in an ATM? Seems ripe for something like this to happen.
Mmm, I don’t know how OP was physically able to put money into the ATM machine when they don’t have a U.S. Bank account. Story seems sus.
I had no idea you could deposit money in an atm that wasn’t an ATM of your bank/credit union.
What sht hole some of you people live in? Im in NYC and i deposit plenty of cash up to $10k sometimes and no issues 😅 looks like he deposited on a different bank than he banks with
