Hi! I know typically it’s not best to change banks before closing.. we are currently under contract on a new construction home with a closing date at the end of July. Today (4/18) our bank account was hacked and someone was spending money out of our checking account. (Using our account number not our debit card information) obviously we will be filing a dispute. In the meantime, we went and withdrew the money in our account due to the fact that it’s Saturday, and we can not get in contact with the bank until Monday, and didn’t want to be out those funds.

That being said- we’ve been thinking of opening up a new bank account (specifically USAA and navy fed since we are military affiliated)

Had anyone ever changed banks while under contract? Is this a bad idea? Should we just deposit the money back in to our previous account once the issue is resolved? Obviously we want to do whatever necessary to be able to close without issues- but we are weary of both this incident (the major withdrawals and deposits since you’re not supposed to do that while under contract) but also worried if we switch banks. Regardless it would be a different account number so I’m not sure.

Ant and all Advice is welcome and appreciated!
