• Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Walmart OnePay and maybe a 2% for anything not on our rotating categories
• Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Both
We’ve been utilizing the 5% rotating categories on our Freedom Unlimited and Discover but I feel like we’re really missing out on all the Walmart and Sam’s shopping we do. We spent $14k+ at Walmart and $6k+ at Sam’s last year. That does include most of our fuel, which I’m not sure how the Walmart card will handle that. We do have a Walmart+ membership and I’m not particularly interested in a Sam’s card bc of previous experiences.
The Freedom Unlimited is giving us 1.5% so I think we should try to bump that up to 2 but I’m not interested in moving my banking just for a credit card.
Chase has been really good for us and has always taken really good care of us with fraud issues and any disputes we’ve had but I want more cash back. We did end up with about $1400 back last year.
I’m also open to any other suggestions on cards we may utilize to get us more cash back.

Well for Walmart I am platinum honors have a bofa ccr set to online and when I buy stuff at Walmart use Walmart pay set to this card so far it’s been 5.25%
Your grocery spend is massive so yeah the Walmart card makes total sense for you guys. Just heads up though – most Walmart cards code gas purchases at their stations as grocery/Walmart purchases, but gas at other stations usually gets base rate only.
For the 2% flat rate card, there’s bunch of options that don’t require switching banks. Since you’re under 5/24 and Chase treats you well, maybe look at their setup first before going elsewhere.
I would look at the Sam’s Club Mastercard. It is a great card, I am a Plus member and use my card for all Sam’s purchases as well as it is my designated fuel card for that 5% cash back. Using it as a secondary card basically I bring in $300-400 a year in points. Worth the consideration…
