I’m currently facing a massive hurdle with my product data. I have a huge number of products that need to be categorized, and frankly, I’m totally confused about the best way to structure this so it stays organized and scalable.
I’m looking for a "battle-tested" workflow. Specifically:
The Strategy: How do you approach building a taxonomy from scratch? Do you go top-down (broad categories first) or bottom-up (grouping specific items first)?
The AI Piece: I want to use AI (like ChatGPT or Claude) to speed this up, but I'm struggling with the prompts. How do you prompt an AI to categorize thousands of items without it hallucinating or making a mess?
The Tools: Outside of Excel/Google Sheets, are there specific tools you use to manage product attributes and categories efficiently?
If anyone has a specific AI prompt structure or a step-by-step checklist they use for bulk categorization, I would be incredibly grateful if you could share it!
