The effective date is June 4, 2026, but brokers have until Oct. 20, 2027, to implement it: https://www.finra.org/rules-guidance/notices/26-10.

For those saying this will make people lose money faster – does the PDT rule *really* make traders more disciplined to their benefit? It seems like being able to exit a bad trade without worrying about being flagged is a good thing, but I can see where it would encourage revenge trading and hasty decisions.

it annoys me that ppl keep claiming that pdt 25k limit being removed makes ppl poorer when i couldnt get out of a position and lost 2500 when trump declared war on iran.
not being able to change ur position and reorganize due to have less than 25k just lost u money. a better rule would have been where u just couldnt do margin at all without having 25k.
TLDR version? : are they removing the minimum $25k requirement to day trade ? If so that is amazing and overdue

the nice thing is the 45 days includes weekends and holidays (memorial day) so really we only have 31 trading days till this is live!
I’m glad the government finally believes that people with under $25k can be savvy investors and have the financial knowledge and experience to be successful navigating the financial markets.
