Good afternoon, I have put in an insurance claim with my homeowners' insurance for some water damage near the first floor of the house. The adjuster came, took picture, and other general information. Before leaving she said she needed to take a picture of the back of the house.
Which shows another door (I have a small apartment that I am renting out). Now she asks me if she could come into the house again to see where that other door leads to. Can I deny her request as the claim is not in that area? She has already seen and been to the are related to the claim.
Location reference: Long Island, New York
TIA

Not really, usually you have to cooperate with the investigation. What is your reasoning to not want her there?
Insurance doesn’t know you have an apartment in that part of the house? Check out the “duty to cooperate “ language in your policy. Likely they either get to see the apartment or else you get told they can’t complete the investigation due to non cooperation and it’s denied. Also, if your tenant gets mail there or uses that address for utilities or bills it’s going to pop up eventually in the systems they use to research anyway.
