The trend on cars is to use larger and larger rims (17”+ on sedans). But this is all aesthetic and very expensive and not practical for daily driving. The ordinary person would benefit much more from 15” or 16” rims:
- There are so many more quality tire options and they are much more affordable.
- The meatier tires act as a natural suspension and absorb so much shock which puts a lot less stress on the mechanical suspension of your own car decreasing your maintenance costs in the long run
- Ride comfort improves dramatically due to have more rubber and shock absorption.
- Tires last longer due to having thicker treads
- Rims weigh less giving better acceleration (since less torque is required to rotate than heavier wheels)
- Transmission (the most delicate part of the car) shifts smoother since wheels are lighter.
- Tires are readily available in 15” at any Walmart if you get a flat. No waiting days for a replacement like on 17” tires.
