Hey everyone! I’m a college student working on a brand research project and I’d really appreciate hearing your honest thoughts on AAA Roadside Assistance.

If you’re open to sharing, I’ve got a few quick questions:

    1. When was the last time you thought about AAA, and what triggered it?
    2. What do you think AAA actually offers besides roadside assistance?
    3. If your car broke down tomorrow, what would your first move be?
    4. Do you see AAA as something useful for people your age, or more for older adults/parents?
    5. Have you ever considered getting AAA yourself? Why or why not?
    6. What would make AAA feel worth paying for before you need it?
    7. Where do you usually look for help with car issues (friends, family, Google, etc.)?
    8. If AAA disappeared tomorrow, do you think it would affect you at all?

No right or wrong answers, just trying to understand how people actually think about it.

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

AAA was awesome back in the day, before almost every insurance carrier offered their own roadside. Then every insurance started offering their own roadside, so towing companies started prioritizing regular calls.

Now a days it seems like the best way to get immediate help and be covered is to have roadside insurance coverage but with a carrier that will offer reimbursement, so you can call a regular truck, pay up front, then get reimbursed.

    2. 1. Today, I am an insurance broker and can sell AAA insurance.

      2. …. They offer insurance.

      3. Id call my car insurance’s roadside coverage, currently have my insurance with a different carrier.

      4. AAA membership is useful. Having it in my state allows you to get their insurance. Their current home insurance rates here ROCK.

      5. Yes, when I shop my insurance they are among the options I consider.

      6. The base AAA member ship is a very solid price. It’s a good service for the cost tbh.

      7. I would honestly still call my dad first, old man knows his stuff.

      8. If they dipped tomorrow I would notice it. It would not alter my life in much of a significant way.

The last time I called, I was quoted 6 hours to help with a dead battery. I had them put my in the queue, but called my parents, who finished grocery shopping, then drove 45 minutes to meet me and my family, and we got enough charge in to go 2 miles up the interstate to an Autozone. Over an hour later, we finally made it home, and only then did I call and cancel AAA. I have never called since then.

      1. Today. The renewal bill came in the mail.
      2. Peace of mind whenever I drive
      3. Call Aaa for a tow to my mechanic
      4. I think it’s more beneficial for younger people because they generally have less money set aside for emergencies
      5. I have had AAA ever since I was first licensed to drive in 1991
      6. That’s a mindset problem. You’re either the type to prepare for an emergency and be thankful you didn’t have an emergency, or not. If you’re trying to talk someone into being prepared, maybe run an ad that shows how much towing or flat repair would be without having AAA. Also AAA offices handle a bunch of DMV stuff, meaning you can skip the 90 minute line at DMV for many transactions
      7. Spouse, who knows cars, followed by trusted (and treasured) family mechanic.
      8. Probably not, because in 35 years of membership I have called them exactly twice. But I prefer AAA to exist for aforementioned peace of mind.
