Got obsessed with the topic as a physicist. Have been going through the numbers through various sources, and to my surprise, there is really no official number on this. The difference between 50 years left to find an energy alternative like nuclear or a solar that actually works and 5,000 years is huge. We need energy to find more dense energy sources. Even if we do not go extinct, we would definitely as a species reach a point where extinction would be inevitable even if it takes another 100,000 years.

Is there really no official prediction on how much oil there is left in the world?

The amount of oil is less the question then the amount of oil that can be extracted more cost effectively than other energy alternatives.

There is way more oil super deep down if you can afford to go there, it just won’t make economic sense.

There is, but its garbage. Actual oil reserve data is top level secret in most oil economies, they are not going to tell anyone so nobody has global overview. Reported reserves are just fantasy.

The amount left doesn’t matter because we can create it if we need to…

Its unlimited. Only reason they said it comes from dead dinos was to create a sense of scarcity.

We are still producing oil out of the Wheeler #1. Drilled in 1912, the well makes a couple barrels a day and can still turn a profit even at $40/barrel. With cheap labor and decades old service rigs, the small independent operators are making money. Oil is going to be around in the foreseeable future.

No. But there is no need to know. There is literally all the oil we will ever need. It is simply impossible to run out. Reason being if we keep burning Oil we will trigger extinction level climate change eliminating our species long before we have used even a fraction of our current proven resources.

This is the result of evil suppression of free energy. It’s already been figured out but these tards need their silly ego, control, and greed. The system and almost every ideology within it is obsolete and does not benefit the survival of us parasites.

    8. Very good post and some nice comments. Just I want to talk about Proven Reserves and its definition. Most people assume it means total reserve, what it truly means is there is an estimate with at least a 90% probability of being recovered under current economic and operating conditions.

Probable reserves is a 50% probability. Possible reserves is 10%.

If you look at all the stats, that’s 46 billion reserves for US, which is like 15 years of total production. If you factor in 2P and 3P then that’s about 10 times. Other comments mention better in the economics of getting more oil vs the cost

Look up proved, probable, possible oil definitions in an LLM and it’ll explain why “how much oil is left” is more complicated than a specific number of barrels
